Large Hadron Collider Enters Four-Year Upgrade Period

CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has begun Long Shutdown 3 (LS3), a significant maintenance and upgrade phase lasting up to four years. This period will involve extensive civil engineering, infrastructure consolidation, and installation of technology for the High-Luminosity LHC (HiLumi LHC) project. The HiLumi LHC aims to dramatically increase the accelerator's luminosity, with full scientific operation targeted for 2030 after a gradual restart from 2028.
