University of Maryland researchers have identified toxin-blocking proteins in rattlesnake blood that demonstrate significant potency against venom from several dangerous snake species. In laboratory tests, these protein combinations were approximately ten times more effective than an existing commercial antivenom, potentially paving the way for a new generation of nature-inspired snakebite treatments.
