NOAA Predicts High Probability of Strong El Niño Extending into Early 2027

NOAA's Climate Prediction Center forecasts a greater than 90% chance of a very strong El Niño event continuing from late 2026 through early 2027. There is also a 69% probability that the October-December 2026 period could see a historic El Niño, potentially exceeding all events since 1950.
