CERN's Large Hadron Collider Enters Long Shutdown 3 for Major Upgrades

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN has been switched off to begin Long Shutdown 3 (LS3), a multi-year period of maintenance and upgrades. This extensive work, the largest intervention since the LHC's construction, will involve replacing major components and modernizing experimental facilities to prepare for the High-Luminosity LHC, which is expected to enter full scientific operation in 2030 and increase collision luminosity tenfold.
