RNA Analysis Enhances BRCA1 Variant Classification for Cancer Risk
An international study, led by VHIO within the ENIGMA consortium, has shown that experimental RNA analysis significantly improves the classification of certain BRCA1 gene variants. This enhanced classification altered the clinical interpretation for 34% of variants studied and resolved uncertainty in about 10% of cases. The findings provide more robust information for genetic counseling and identifying cancer risk.
