ESA-Supported Compact Control Moment Gyroscopes Achieve Commercialization Milestone

A technology developed through ESA's General Support Technology Programme (GSTP), compact Control Moment Gyroscopes (CMGs) by Belgian company Veoware, has reached a significant commercialization milestone. These CMGs, weighing only 4.2 kilograms, offer superior torque output compared to traditional reaction wheels and consume no fuel like thrusters, making them a more efficient attitude control solution for satellites. They have been successfully commissioned to fly on a new commercial satellite constellation.
