LST-1 and MAGIC Telescopes Provide New Insights into Distant Blazar OP 313

The MAGIC and LST-1 telescopes on La Palma have captured an exceptionally bright flare from OP 313, the most distant blazar ever detected at very-high-energy gamma rays, with its light traveling approximately eight billion years to reach Earth. The combined observations, published in *Astronomy & Astrophysics*, offer new insights into the physical processes near the supermassive black hole at the center of OP 313 and the background light encountered by gamma rays during their journey.
