ESA Tracks Satellite Reentry by Aircraft to Study Atmospheric Impact

The European Space Agency (ESA) has for the first time deployed an observation aircraft to directly track the burn-up process of two retired Cluster satellites over the South Pacific. This mission aims to measure the metal particles released into the upper atmosphere, gathering crucial empirical data on the environmental impact of increasing satellite reentries as low-Earth orbit constellations rapidly expand.
