JWST and Hubble conduct largest census of tiny Trans-Neptunian Objects, shedding light on planet formation

In a collaborative effort, NASA's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and Hubble Space Telescope have identified 27 new Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNOs), some as small as six miles wide. This extensive survey provides the most sensitive study of these icy bodies to date, offering crucial data on the early stages of planet formation and how little these building blocks have changed over time. The findings, published in The Astronomical Journal, support a 'born big' view of planet construction in the early solar system.
