JWST Discovers Dozens of Small Trans-Neptunian Objects

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has identified 27 previously unknown Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNOs), some as small as six miles wide, in a specific sky region. This marks the most sensitive survey of distant icy bodies to date. Subsequent Hubble Space Telescope observations helped characterize their surfaces. This extensive census of TNOs, published in The Astronomical Journal, provides crucial insights into early planetary formation processes in our solar system.
