New research suggests that accelerated biological aging may contribute to the rising incidence of cancer in adults under 55. A study led by Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis found that younger generations exhibit signs of aging more rapidly on a biological level than previous generations at comparable chronological ages. This greater biological age acceleration was linked to a higher risk of early-onset cancers, with specific patterns observed for lung, gastrointestinal, uterine, and colorectal cancers. The findings were published in the journal Nature Medicine.
