A 125-million-year-old *Montsecosuchus depereti* crocodile fossil from Spain, remarkably preserved, has revealed skin, potential sensory organs, and respiratory structures. Crucially, ultraviolet light exposure showed alternating tail bands, suggesting the oldest known coloration in a crocodylomorph and ancient camouflage.
