JWST Reveals Star Formation Details and Smallest Brown Dwarfs in IC 348

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has captured a detailed panorama of the IC 348 star-forming region, located 1,000 light-years away. Using its Near-Infrared Camera, JWST discovered tiny brown dwarfs, some with masses only twice that of Jupiter, pushing the limits of understanding star formation and the lower mass boundary for these objects. The observations also captured young stars emitting jets that interact with surrounding gas and dust.
