New AI Technique Enhances Safety and Precision in Minimally Invasive Surgeries

Researchers have developed a novel AI technique that accurately and rapidly matches real-time X-rays captured during surgery with a patient's preoperative 3D medical scans. This patient-specific method, called xvr, is designed to make minimally invasive surgical procedures, such as those in orthopedics and neurosurgery, safer and more precise by helping clinicians more accurately pilot surgical tools. The work was published in the journal Nature.
