NASA Activates Instruments on Roman Space Telescope
NASA has commenced the activation of instruments aboard the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, which launched on August 30 and is en route to Lagrange point two (L2). The Wide Field Instrument (WFI) and Coronagraph Instrument are being powered on, with a 30-day decontamination process planned for the coronagraph. This marks a crucial step in preparing the telescope for its scientific mission, with first science images anticipated in early 2027.
