New Horizons mission finds evidence of liquid nitrogen flowing on Pluto's surface

Scientists have discovered the first evidence suggesting that liquid nitrogen may still be seeping onto Pluto's frozen surface. Dark features on the Sputnik Planitia glacier are consistent with liquid nitrogen rising through cracks from deep beneath the ice. This finding, based on observations from NASA's New Horizons spacecraft, indicates that Pluto may be more geologically active than previously believed.
