NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Discovers New, 'Once-in-a-Century' Moon Crater

A recently formed impact crater, dubbed 'McGetchin' and measuring 730 feet (222 meters) wide, has been discovered on the Moon by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. Scientists estimate such a large-scale event occurs only once every 132 years, making it a significant finding for understanding lunar impacts and for NASA's plans to build a lunar base. The crater is believed to have formed in the spring of 2024 from a comet or asteroid collision.
