NASA Orbiter Identifies Large, Recently Formed Lunar Crater

NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) has detected a new impact crater on the Moon, named McGetchin, measuring 222 meters across and 43 meters deep. Formed in May 2024, this "once-in-a-century" event is the largest known recent impact crater in the solar system.
