NASA's New Horizons Mission Finds Evidence of Recent Liquid Nitrogen Flow on Pluto

Scientists analyzing data from NASA's New Horizons spacecraft have discovered the first evidence suggesting that liquid nitrogen may have flowed across Pluto's surface in the recent past. Dark features observed on the enormous Sputnik Planitia glacier appear consistent with liquid nitrogen rising through cracks from deep beneath the ice. Computer models support the idea that nitrogen could melt at the glacier's base and travel upward, indicating that Pluto may be more geologically active than previously thought.
