Astronomers Detect Massive Unseen Companion to Delta Scuti Star TIC 160582982 via Asteroseismology (Preprint)
A new preprint reports the asteroseismic detection of a massive, unseen companion to the Delta Scuti star TIC 160582982. Using six high-frequency pressure modes as pulsation clocks, researchers derived an eccentric orbital solution, suggesting the presence of a massive compact object like a neutron star or stellar-mass black hole. This work is preliminary and has not yet been peer-reviewed.
