Stanford Researchers Develop Noninvasive Urine RNA Test for Bladder Cancer Detection
Stanford researchers have created uRARE-seq, a new noninvasive urine test that analyzes RNA fragments to detect bladder cancer. This method could significantly simplify diagnosis compared to current invasive procedures. The test demonstrated 95% accuracy in detecting localized bladder cancers and correctly ruled out cancer in 90% of non-cancer cases in trials with 683 samples. It can also differentiate cancer grades, monitor treatment effectiveness, and predict immunotherapy response, potentially leading to more personalized patient care.
