NASA advances plans for Prima, a new far-infrared space telescope to complement James Webb
NASA is moving forward with the design and technology testing for the Probe Far-infrared Mission for Astrophysics (Prima), a proposed space telescope intended to observe the cold, dusty universe in far-infrared light. Prima aims to achieve a thousand-fold leap in sensitivity in this less-explored wavelength band, chasing clues about the origin of water on planets and complementing the James Webb Space Telescope's infrared capabilities. If approved, Prima could launch in the early 2030s.
