New Supercomputer Simulation Details Early Milky Way Formation
A team of scientists led by Harley Katz at the University of Chicago has completed a new, highly detailed supercomputer simulation, named Megatron, revealing how the Milky Way galaxy formed in its first billion years. The simulation incorporates data from the James Webb Space Telescope and shows the merger of thousands of smaller galaxies into the spiral shape seen today. The research papers have been published in 'The Open Journal of Astrophysics'.
