NASA Report Predicts Centuries of Unavoidable Sea Level Rise
A new report from the NASA Sea Level Change Team and UNEP warns that global sea levels will continue to rise for centuries, even if global temperatures temporarily exceed and then fall below the 1.5°C warming target. The report, "Sea Level Rise Under Overshoot," highlights that ocean and ice sheet responses drive this long-term trend, with the rate of rise more than doubling since 1993. An additional 10 to 15 centimeters of global rise is expected by 2050, regardless of future emissions pathways, underscoring the irreversible nature of some climate impacts.
