CERN and Mistral AI partner to develop a 'Large Physics Model' for particle physics
CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, and French AI company Mistral have signed a statement of intent to establish a long-term strategic partnership. Their collaboration aims to build a "Large Physics Model" (LPM), described as the first foundation model for collider physics. This AI model will be trained on billions of simulated proton collisions from CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to assist in reconstructing collisions, identifying particles, flagging unusual signals, and evaluating future detector designs.
