JWST Confirms Dynamic Water Clouds on Nearby Brown Dwarf WISE 0855
The James Webb Space Telescope has provided the first direct confirmation of dynamic water clouds on a world beyond our solar system, observing them thicken and thin across the cold brown dwarf WISE 0855. This research, led by scientists at the University of Arizona, recorded light variations over 11 hours, revealing how moisture gathers into clouds and shifts as the object rotates. The findings have been accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journal and are available as a preprint on arXiv.
