Astronomers Enhance Galactic Center Mapping for Black Hole Research

Researchers have developed an updated stellar maser-based reference frame for the Galactic Center's inner parsec, using 30 years of astrometric observations of 15 SiO stellar masers and the Sgr A* continuum. This work aims to improve precise studies of the Sgr A* black hole and its surrounding mass, as well as test gravity theories. The preliminary findings report a mean offset uncertainty of 0.08 mas.
