Physicists visualize graphene electrons 'jumping' energy levels in quantum leap
Researchers from the University of Regensburg, Philipps-Universität Marburg, and Forschungszentrum Jülich have, for the first time, visualized electrons in graphene performing a 'Landau-Zener-Majorana transition,' seemingly bypassing established rules of energy transfer by jumping directly from lower to much higher energy levels. This observation, published in Nature, could inform the development of high-speed semiconductor electronics.
