Knee Articular Shape Linked to Higher ACL Injury Risk in Young Athletes
Researchers at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) have used physics-based computer simulations to demonstrate that an individual's three-dimensional knee articular shape influences anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) loading, independent of surrounding soft tissue properties. Published in *Communications Medicine*, these findings provide new insights into why some individuals, particularly females, are more prone to ACL injuries.
