ESA-Backed CubeSat Achieves Laser Communication Link with Ground Station

The 8U CubeSat ERMIS-3, developed by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with ESA support, has successfully demonstrated a laser link with an optical ground station. This achievement, utilizing Astrolight optical terminals, validates optical communications for small satellites and marks Greece's first optical link with a LEO satellite, showcasing crucial precise pointing, acquisition, and tracking capabilities for high-data-rate communications.
