Canberra is reportedly close to securing an NBL expansion license, marking a potential return of a team to the nation's capital after more than two decades. NBL chief executive David Stevenson indicated a 'strong chance' for Canberra to join the league. This development follows the NBL's announcement that the Ignite Cup Finals and Andrew Gaze MVP Awards will relocate to Canberra from 2027.
