Alex Eala Claims Historic First WTA Singles Title at Washington Open

Filipina tennis star Alex Eala, 21, secured her maiden WTA singles title at the Washington Open, defeating top seed Jessica Pegula in the final. Eala recovered from a set down to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 at the WTA 500 event, becoming the first player from the Philippines to win a tour-level singles title. The victory propelled her to a career-high No. 20 in the PIF WTA Rankings.
