Three-time Cincinnati champion Novak Djokovic, ranked world No. 5, was defeated by 25-year-old Argentine Thiago Agustin Tirante (world No. 50) in his opening match at the Cincinnati Open. Djokovic lost 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 in a match lasting nearly two and a half hours.
