PGA Tour Announces Major Postseason Overhaul to Match Play Format Starting in 2028

The PGA Tour is set to dramatically reshape its postseason, transitioning the Tour Championship to a match-play format over two weeks at different courses, beginning in 2028. This significant change, announced by PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp, aims to create a more compelling and easier-to-follow competitive model. The new structure will involve 32 players competing in group-stage match play, with the top two from each of eight groups advancing to a 16-man single-elimination bracket.
