According to Clippers insider Adam Auslund, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver opted for a lighter punishment for Kawhi Leonard, who was found guilty of salary cap circumvention in September 2025, to avoid a major confrontation with the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA). Leonard's fine was $700,000, significantly less than the initial $30 million fine for the Clippers.
