Pelicans and Grizzlies Complete Four-Player Trade; Pelicans Sign Bennedict Mathurin

The New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies have executed a four-player trade. The Pelicans acquired guard AJ Johnson and veteran forward Taj Gibson, while the Grizzlies received guard Jordan Hawkins, forward Micah Peavy, a future second-round pick, and a future second-round pick swap. This transaction allowed the Pelicans to clear approximately $5.7 million in salary cap space, enabling them to sign free agent Bennedict Mathurin to a two-year, $16 million contract.
