Alex Formenton Signs with Edmonton Oilers, Marking Third Acquitted Hockey Canada Player to Return to NHL

Alex Formenton has signed a one-year, league-minimum $850,000 contract with the Edmonton Oilers. Formenton is the third player acquitted in the Hockey Canada sexual assault case to receive an NHL contract since the trial concluded in July 2025, following Dillon Dube (St. Louis) and Carter Hart (Vegas). He had not played in the NHL since 2022.
