MLB Proposes Shortened 154-Game Season and Expanded Division Series Starting in 2029
Major League Baseball has put forth a new collective bargaining proposal to the MLB Players Association, suggesting a reduction of the regular season from 162 to 154 games beginning in 2029. The proposal also includes expanding the Division Series from a best-of-five to a best-of-seven format and allowing higher-seeded teams to select their opponents in early postseason rounds starting in 2027.
