Eagles Name Joe Milton Starting Quarterback, Jalen Hurts Out for Season

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced Joe Milton will start at quarterback against the New York Giants on Sunday, marking his first NFL start. This decision comes as Jalen Hurts is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to blood clots in his lungs. Additionally, running back Saquon Barkley and starting wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks all missed Wednesday's practice.

Context

Jalen Hurts has been the starting quarterback for the Eagles, leading the team through the season. His health issues, specifically blood clots in his lungs, have raised concerns about his long-term well-being and have forced the team to make a critical change at quarterback. Joe Milton, who is stepping in, has limited experience in the NFL, making this a pivotal moment for both him and the franchise.

Why it matters

The Philadelphia Eagles' decision to start Joe Milton as quarterback is significant as it marks a major shift in the team's strategy following Jalen Hurts' injury. Hurts has been a key player for the Eagles, and his absence could impact the team's performance and playoff aspirations. This situation highlights the challenges teams face when dealing with injuries to star players.

Implications

Joe Milton's success or struggles could significantly influence the Eagles' chances of making the playoffs. If Milton performs well, it may provide the team with confidence moving forward. Conversely, if he struggles, it could lead to further complications for the Eagles' season. The overall morale of the team and its fan base may also be affected by these developments.

What to watch

Fans and analysts will be closely monitoring Joe Milton's performance in his first NFL start against the New York Giants. The Eagles' offensive strategy may shift to accommodate Milton's playing style. Additionally, the health statuses of key players like Saquon Barkley and the wide receivers will be important as the team prepares for the upcoming game.
