Let's Encrypt plans post-quantum web certificates by 2027

Let's Encrypt is working towards a post-quantum-safe Web PKI by implementing Merkle Tree Certificates (MTCs), a novel approach to add post-quantum authentication to the web. This initiative aims to future-proof web security against potential quantum computing threats without compromising speed or reliability. The project anticipates a staging environment for MTCs by late 2026, with a production-ready system expected in 2027.
