Companies Partner to Introduce Ammonia-Powered Shipping Vessels

CMB.TECH and Fortescue have finalized an agreement to charter as many as 12 ammonia-capable Newcastlemax vessels. This collaboration represents a notable advancement in efforts to reduce carbon emissions within the global shipping industry. The initiative includes plans for three vessels to operate with dual-fuel ammonia engines by late 2026, with the remaining nine prepared for future ammonia conversion, aiming for substantial annual CO2 reductions.
