IBM Unveils Nanostack Chip Technology for Significant Performance and Energy Efficiency Gains
IBM has announced a new 'nanostack' three-dimensional architecture for semiconductor chips, which is projected to deliver up to 50% better performance or 70% greater energy efficiency compared to its 2-nanometer node chips. This innovation allows for nearly 100 billion transistors on a fingernail-sized chip, almost doubling the density of 2nm chips, and is expected to advance smartphones, laptops, data centers, self-driving cars, and AI tools.
