Samsung and SK Hynix Announce Massive Semiconductor Fab Expansion in South Korea

Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are embarking on a substantial expansion, investing 800 trillion won (approximately US$517.87 billion) to construct four new semiconductor fabrication plants in South Korea. This massive undertaking is expected to intensify global competition with TSMC and Intel. The scale of the investment also raises concerns about potential strain on the supply of chipmaking tools.
