Micron Technology Begins ¥1.5 Trillion Expansion in Japan for AI Memory Chip Production

Micron Technology has initiated a substantial ¥1.5 trillion (US$9.3 billion) expansion of its Hiroshima, Japan, facility. This investment is dedicated to manufacturing advanced memory chips, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM), which are essential components for AI processors. Production is slated to commence in mid-2028, with significant financial backing from the Japanese government.
