Micron Begins $9.3 Billion AI Memory Expansion Project in Japan

Micron Technology has commenced a significant $9.3 billion expansion at its Hiroshima, Japan, semiconductor facility. This investment aims to boost the global supply chain for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) crucial for artificial intelligence (AI) chips, meeting the surging demand from AI applications in cloud computing, data centers, and machine learning infrastructure. Shipments from the expanded facility are expected to begin around summer 2028.
