Micron Breaks Ground on Hiroshima Fab Expansion for Advanced DRAM and HBM Production

Micron Technology has commenced a ¥1.5 trillion (US$9.3 billion) expansion of its Hiroshima fab in Japan. This significant investment aims to scale the production of advanced memory chips, including 1γ DRAM and High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), which are crucial for artificial intelligence (AI) processors. Equipment delivery and installation are slated for the second half of 2028, with the Japanese government pledging substantial subsidies.
