EU Commission Designates AWS and Azure as Digital Markets Act Gatekeepers

The European Commission has provisionally determined that Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure qualify as 'gatekeepers' under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). This decision aims to prevent dominant cloud providers from restricting competition and locking in business users. The designation will impose new regulations, including requirements for fair software licensing, interoperability, and data portability.
