Google Cloud Open-Sources Always-On Memory Agent for Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite, Eliminating Vector Databases

Google Cloud has open-sourced an "Always-On Memory Agent" on Google ADK and Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite. This reference implementation treats memory as a continuous process, eliminating the need for vector databases and embeddings. It runs 24/7 as a lightweight background process, consolidating memories and writing new insights every 30 minutes, and can ingest 27 file types.
