IBM and researchers from the University of Chicago have demonstrated quantum advantage by performing computations beyond the practical reach of classical computers, while also providing verifiable accurate results. They achieved this by using a new error correction method to encode 70 logical qubits, executing 2,415 logical two-qubit operations and 468 logical 'T gates' in approximately 15 minutes. This breakthrough establishes trusted quantum computation on logical circuits, with logical error rates 10 times lower than physical error rates.
