Google Chrome Tests New Security Feature to Block Policy-Based Search and New Tab Hijacking

Google is testing a new security feature in Chrome to prevent malware from abusing enterprise policy mechanisms to hijack default search engines and new tab extensions on unmanaged devices. This initiative aims to enhance user security by blocking policy-controlled extensions and logging malicious extension IDs onto a blocklist, automatically preventing future installation attempts by persistent malware. Legitimate enterprise management on controlled devices will remain unaffected.
